The Spanish league title race is officially a three-horse race. After Real Madrid put itself atop the table with a win on Saturday, Barcelona responded with a rather dominant effort in Sevilla to tie Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid atop the table.
Los Cules fell behind by one goal in Sevilla but responded with four straight goals, including a pair from superstar Lionel Messi who responded to criticisms that he was not at his best form. Even though Messi had snapped his goalless drought in the Spanish League previously, the Argentinean had not scored from open play since September. Messi put an end to that streak on Sunday.
The three-way tie currently favors Barcelona thanks to goal differential, but it is difficult to pick a clear-cut front-runner at this point. Los Cules have a dynamic offense but questionable defense. Meanwhile, Real Madrid has an offense that produces tremendously even without star player Cristiano Ronaldo. Finally, Atletico Madrid has been the most balanced squad of the year despite losing 2-0 against Almeria on Saturday.
Real Madrid still has one home game against Barcelona and an away match against Atletico Madrid. Meanwhile, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid face off on the final day of the season in what could very well determine the champion of the Spanish League.
Who do you favor to take home the Spanish League title in 2013-14?
