Laura Lucio, journalist and Jenni Rivera's former manager, said once more that the book telling the story of the late singer, "Inquebrantable", was written by her, and the lawsuit she filed against Rosie Rivera and Jenni Rivera Enterprises Inc. might go to court.
According to information published by the Associated Press in El Nuevo Herald, Jenni Rivera Enterprises Inc., in charge of managing the late singer's assets, said on Tuesday, Feb. 4 through it legal representative that it plans to go to court to defend itself from the lawsuit filed by journalist Laura Lucio.
In press release the AP had access to, Anthony R. López, lawyer for JR Enterprises Inc., said that "We maintain that these statements are simply not true; they lack legal basis and merit."
"We believe the correct place to reveal the facts for this case is in court and we await that opportunity," said López.
Entertainment website TMZ reported in late January that journalist Laura Lucio claimed to be the co-writer for the book "Inquebrantable: Mi historia, a mi manera", and said that 95 percent of the biographical book, which was previously called "Mi Vida Loca", was written by her based on interviews she had with Jenni.
After the singer's tragic death, the project was restarted months later by the Rivera family when they found the original script among Jenni's computer's files, publishing it in July 2013 under the title "Inquebrantable".
According to Laura Lucio, the Rivera family published the book, of which she says she's the author, without consulting her or paying her for her work. According to the journalist, the singer and her had reached an agreement in which 40 percent of the profits from the book would belong to Lucio; however, after Jenni Rivera's sudden death, a court will have to determine whether the profits will go to Lucio or not.
Lauro Lucio demands $10 million as a compensation for the book's profits.
