Will Gary Oldman appear in the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII?" According to reports, the actor was approached to join the film.
"They've called. I'm more cynical about it now. I'll believe it when I'm on the plane home. The deal isn't done, but yeah, they've inquired," he stated, according to Metro.
Oldman has become somewhat of a fixture in the world of Hollywood franchises. He played Commissioner Gordon in Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy and also appeared as Sirius Black in the "Harry Potter" franchise. Now he is slated to play the lead in the upcoming "Planet of the Apes" sequel. His involvement in so many major films was not overlooked by the actor.
"I mean Planet of the Apes, Harry Potter, Batman and Star Wars - bloody hell!" he stated.
Casting rumors have been heating up over the last few months with Zac Efron also confirming a meeting with the production team. Michael Fassbender and Hugo Weaving were also in the rumor mill, presumably to play villainous roles.
Of course, there is still no confirmation of who will be involved in the film. At this point the only real knowledge of the film is that director J.J. Abrams has finished the script and that the film is slated for a December 2015 release.
Other rumors have indicated that this film will feature Luke, Leia and Han as the main heroes for one last time before turning over the baton to a younger generation; this has not been confirmed and none of the actors who played the roles in the original films have been officially confirmed.
