With Valentine's Day just around the corner, it's time to put the romance on. If you're a low-key couple who just wants to have a quiet night in, here are five Valentine's movies that will make you fall in love over and over again:
When Harry Met Sally - A romantic classic, Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan starred as the titular character roles. Harry and Sally meets when she gives him a ride to New York after their University of Chicago graduation, and what started out as feelings of hatred became a wonderful friendship with more than just friendly feelings beneath the surface. And although they did not want to take the risk of losing what they had, true love prevailed in the end.
The Princess Bride - Another story of a princess and a stable boy, "The Princess Bride" is about Princess Buttercup, who feared that her love Westley has died. When she found out that he was in fact, alive, she started reconsidering her marriage to the prince, who will stop at nothing to keep her, so that he can kill her. Despite the seemingly tragic tale, however, the comedy is perfect for lovers who love a good laugh.
Say Anything - John Cusack may have done a lot of notable movies to date, but in the 80's he was a teen star who can make girls swoon. One of his iconic roles include "Say Anything" where his character, the noble underachiever, Lloyd, stood outside his overachiever love, Diane's window holding a boom-box and blasting a love song.
The Notebook - The film based on the Nicholas Sparks novel put tears in the eyes of even the toughest. The movie begins with an old man reading to an old woman about two young lovers, Noah and Allie (played by Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams), who are separated by two very different worlds. It took several years for the two to find each other again, and when they did. Allie, who is engaged to another, had to choose between her first love and her fiancé.
Like Water for Chocolate - For lovers who love foreign films, "Like Water for Chocolate" is a story about a woman who turns to the culinary world when her mother won't allow her to marry the man she loves, who instead was married to her sister. A story about love for food, family, and tradition, this movie is feast for the senses on Valentine's Day.
