Before he was Loki, Tom Hiddleston was another actor auditioning for a role in the "Thor" films. However, since the movie was first released, Tom has become an icon for the villain, as Chris Hemsworth has become the perfect face for the god-slash-superhero. Notably though, before the final cast was revealed, Tom did try to wield the mighty hammer.
Yahoo! Movies got hold of Hiddleston's audition tape for his role on "Thor" from the special features showcased on the film's DVD/Blu-ray.
Hiddleston told The Guardian, "Every English-speaking actor over six foot was being seen for the part, I got down to the final few, which also included Chris's younger brother Liam Hemsworth, Alexander Skarsgård, and Charlie Hunnam."
To audition for the role of Thor, Hiddleston only had six weeks to prepare for the screen test, and Yahoo! noted that he used the time to add muscle to his frame by lifting weights and adding more protein to his diet.
Craig Kyle, executive producer of the "Thor" films, said of the actor, "He did a tremendous job, but he wasn't Thor."
He did, however, land in the film as Thor's sibling rival, Loki, a role which gained him immense popularity.
Thor isn't the only Avenger that Hiddleston got to play, however. He also chanced upon dressing up as Captain America, complete with the red-white-and-blue costume. The particular scene was featured as a Blu-ray bonus -- a behind-the-scenes footage from "The Dark World" where the Norse god disguised himself as the first avenger. After shooting the scene, Hiddleston said that they "showed Chris [Evans] my performance on tape, and he went and did an impression of me doing an impression of him."

According to Yahoo! News, Hiddleston will not be appearing in "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
"Thor: The Dark World" will be available in DVD/Blu-ray format in stores beginning February 25.
