The film adaptation of Assassin's Creed is rumored to start production in August.

According to executive producer Fannie Pailloux's LinkedIn page, the film has a scheduled "output summer 2015," and with shooting taking place in summer of 2014.

The news comes a few days after it was reported that Daniel Espinosa was the first choice director for the film. The director, known for his work on "Safe House" and the upcoming thriller "Child 44," has yet to confirm the news or the rumors.

Michael Fassbender is currently slated to star in the film. The "12 Years a Slave" actor is also confirmed to produce the video game adaptation. Additionally, Uisoft has already stated that Fassbender is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.

"Assassin's Creed" was recently rewritten by Scott Frank after playwright Michael Lesslie wrote the first drafts. The movie will also be produced by Frank Marshall ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "The Last Airbender").

Pailloux has served as exective producer on "Arthur and the Minimoys," "Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard," and "Arthur and the Two Worlds War" by Luc Besson.

Fassbender is best known for his work on "Prometheus," "X-Men: First Class," "Fish Tank," "A Dangerous Method" and "Inglorious Basterds." He received his first Golden Globe and British Academy Award nomination for his work in "Shame." Fassbender will next be seen in "Frank," which recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and "Slow West."

"Assassin's Creed" is set to be released by 20th Century Fox on Aug. 7, 2015.
