Stan Lee will not appear in the upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy."
During an interview with Dweebcast, the 91-year-old revealed that he would not appear in the upcoming Marvel movie. He also revealed that he had no idea who the Guardians of the Galaxy were.
"No, I'm afraid not, that's the one group I didn't create," said Lee, according to IGN. "I didn't write Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm not even sure who they all are."
However, that did not deter his enthusiasm for the film.
"I can't wait to see the movie," he stated.
Lee has made 19 cameos in Marvel's films. Among those cameos, he's been a hot dog stand vendor in "X-Men," a newspaper reader in "Daredevil," a security guard in "Hulk," a Hugh Heffner-like character in the first "Iron Man," a Larry King look-alike in "Iron Man 2," a general in "Captain America: The First Avengers," and a school librarian in "The Amazing Spider-Man." He also exchanges a few lines with Peter Parker in "Spider-Man 3."
"Guardians of the Galaxy" appears in theaters on Aug. 1, 2014. The movie stars Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Chris Pratt and Benicio del Toro among others. The film is directed by James Gunn who also wrote the screenplay alongside Nicole Perlman.
The trailer is expected to debut during the Super Bowl. The film will be one of two major Marvel movies to hit theaters this summer. The first Marvel film of the summer is "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
