Pixar may be developing a Star Wars animated film.
The Latino Review reported that Pixar is interested in producing a Star Wars film. The Latino Review's Kellvin Chaves stated, "At this point, no idea what the size or shape of this film will be and given the long-view storytelling production model that is part of the Pixar brand, this could be a long way off. We can expect it to take place in the middle of a Venn Diagram between Star Wars and A Pixar Movie, and what that means to you depends on your definition of both."
Neither Pixar or Disney have confirmed the news but if the plans are in motion, news will arrive soon. Disney is currently working hard on getting started with "Star Wars: Episode VII." That film is currently in pre-production with no casting announced.
The film is slated to be directed by J.J Abrams ("Star Trek," "Mission Impossible 3" "Super 8") and produced by Kathleen Kennedy ("Lincoln," "Munich," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button") and Bryan Burk with Tommy Harper. Meanwhile, Jason McGatlin ("The Adventures of Tintin," "War of the Worlds") will serve as executive producer and John Williams ("The Book Thief," "Munich," "Lincoln") will be returning to score the movie. Daniel Mindel ("Star Trek") will serve as cinematographer while Michale Kaplan ("Star Trek") will design the costumes. The movie is scheduled for a Dec. 18, 2015 release and will begin shooting in Pinewood Studios in the U.K. later this year.
Pixar is best known for producing the "Toy Story" trilogy, "Cars," "Wall-E" and "Up." The company will next release "The Good Dinosaur" and "Finding Dory."
