Shailene Woodley has revealed that her "Divergent" schedule will most likely leave her out of the third "The Amazing Spider-Man" movie.
While at the Sundance Film Festival promoting her new film "The Fault in our Stars," Woodley said, "Seeing as how they picked up the next two 'Divergent' films, I don't know how I'd keep my sanity with two big action films in one year."
Woodley was famously cut out of the upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." She was supposed to play the iconic role of Mary Jane Watson but director Marc Webb thought cutting her out made sense for the film.
Upon hearing the news, Woodley said, "Of course I'm bummed. But I am a firm believer in everything happening for a specific reason. ... Based on the proposed plot, I completely understand the need for holding off on introducing [Mary Jane] until the next film."
Woodley recently starred in the Sundance hit "The Spectacular Now." The movie scored rave reviews and Woodley received nominations for the Indie Spirit Awards and the Gotham Awards. Woodley has also been seen in "The Descendants" for which she scored a Golden Globe nomination, and the TV series "The Secret Life of American Teenager."
She will next be seen in the upcoming "Divergent," which opens on March 21. She will then appear in the sequels "Insurgent," slated for 2015, and "Allegiant," slated for 2016.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" opens on May 2. The third installment is slated for 2016.
