The bureaucrats of Pawnee's Parks Department are back! NBC has announced that "Parks and Recreation" has been renewed for a seventh season, Deadline reports.
This was a sigh of relief for fans since previous seasons of the show experienced a dip in viewership which could have led to a cancellation.
The announcement was made shortly after Amy Poehler signed a three-year contract with the television network. Part of the deal was launching a new comedy series co-created and produced by Poehler according to an article on the Hollywood Reporter.
However, despite the good news, fans are wondering what's in store for them in the newest season of "Parks and Rec". After all, in Season 6, it was announced that key players Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones would be departing from the show.
Fans also noticed that Chris Pratt's character, the good-hearted but extremely dim-witted Andy Dwyer, was absent in most episodes of the season. His absence was primarily due to being casted for the lead role in the upcoming Marvel film "Guardians of the Galaxy."
Now, with rumors circulating that Pratt will be starring in the upcoming big-budget movie "Jurassic World", the 34-year-old actor's involvement in the seventh season of the show might get a bit blurry.
Fortunately, according to Screen Rant, unlike Lowe and Jones, there have been no formal talks and announcements regarding Pratt's departure.
Hopefully, producers of the show would once again see the impact that Pratt's character brings to the table. To give you an idea, here's a little trivia: Pratt was only supposed to make a guest appearance on the first season of "Parks and Recreations" as Andy Dwyer. But after seeing his performance as the dumb, puppy-like man, the producers instantly loved Pratt and decided to include him as a regular cast member in the second season.
