A few days ago, rumors started about Arsenal looking to purchase Julian Draxler from Schalke 04 for 40 million euros. However, two new developments have taken place regarding this story.

The first development is Schalke claiming that there is currently no bid for its star player.

"There are no offers from not a single club," the club stated, according to ESPN. "We still hope that Julian stays, but there are elements we can't influence."

Clubs make these kinds of claims all the time in order to kill the hype that often surrounds impending transfers.

The other major development is the rumor that Bayern Munich could look to lure the superstar to Bavaria. This is actually not surprising, especially considering Munich's recent transfer activity. The team recently bought Robert Lewandowski; prior to that Munich snatched Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona and Mario Gotze from Borussia Dortmund. The club has already been linked with Juan Mata from Chelsea.

While it is no surprise that any superstar would garner interest from Munich, the trend seems to indicate that the club may actually be more interested in compiling top players from around the world in order to monopolize them. This tactic would limit the star players on other major teams and thus give Bayern Munich an edge. All of the aforementioned players are young and would thus set up the team for years to come when its current crop of superstars are ready to move on or retire.

Draxler is tied to Schalke until June 30, 2018 and has a reported 35 million pound buy-out clause.
