We're not seeing the last of Captain Jack Sparrow!
Fans won't be blamed for rubbing their hands together in glee these days after finding out that the quirky character will once again be displaying his humorous antics and (mis)adventures on screen with the fifth installment of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' film franchise, which has been titled 'Dead Man Tell No Tales.'
Apparently, the notoriously fickle Captain Jack isn't dead as he still has at least one more tale to tell.
The movie's directiors, Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, both Norwegians, told Deadline that they will be shooting the upcoming adventure flick in Puerto Rico and New Orleans "at the end of the year."
That's quite a long time, isn't it? If you heard of the initial announcements made last year about the film's summer 2016 release date, this shooting schedule shouldn't come as a surprise.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, producer Jerry Bruckheimer said that they initially planned a summer 2015 launch. However, the script "is not done yet" and so the date was moved much later than anticipated. Bruckheimer reassured everyone that they "have an outline everyone loves."
Perhaps now they have the script down pat?
Aside from Johnny Depp reprising his role as the irrepressible Captain Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush will be back as Barbosa. Keith Richards has also signed on to bring life to his Captain Teague character once more.
Penelope Cruz, unfortunately, will not be returning to the sequel in a major role. She played Angelica Teach in 2011's 'On Stranger Tides' installment. However, according to the Daily Mail, it's possible that she will be back for "a very small cameo."
Christopher Waltz has been rumored to be cast as the main villain, Captain Brand, in the upcoming movie. There are no confirmations on his casting yet as of press time.
Meanwhile, Rebecca Hall has been mentioned for the part of Carina Smyth, "a beautiful woman in her late 30s who is called a witch by some but is really an adept astronomer."
