The Golden Globes have named "12 Years a Slave" the Best Film of the year.

The Hollywood Foreign Press also named "American Hustle" the Best Comedy/Musical of the year.

Leonardo DiCaprio won the Best Actor Comedy/Musical award for his role in "The Wolf of Wall Street" while Matthew McConaughey won the Best Actor award Drama for his role in "Dallas Buyers Club."

Meanwhile, Jared Leto won the Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Dallas Buyers Club." Spike Jonze also won the Best Screenplay award for his film "Her."

Jennifer Lawrence surprised taking home the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in "American Hustle" beating out Lupita Nyong'o.

Amy Adams also surprised winning the Best Actress Comedy/Musical for her role in "American Hustle." Adams has now boosted her chances at an Oscar nomination.

Alex Ebert won the Best Score award also surprising for his work in "All is Lost." The composer beat out the front-runners Hans Zimmer and Steven Price.

Bono also shocked as he won for his son Ordinary Love from the movie "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom"; the film beat out front-runner "Frozen."

The Best Animated film award went to "Frozen," while the Best Foreign Film prize was awarded to "The Great Beauty."

The Golden Globes also awarded the Cecille de Mille award to Woody Allen. However, the director did not attend the ceremony. Diane Keaton received the prize for him.

The Golden Globes are important as they are good predictors of who will win the Oscar in March.
