The machinery behind the Neil Burger-directed sci-fi film has taken a slightly different approach in drumming up attention and anticipation for 'Divergent'.  Featurettes showing behind-the-scenes action and interviews with the cast, as well as the author of the book the movie is based on, has been released by producers even months before its March 21 show date - a fact that has delighted fans of novelist Veronica Roth's futuristic trilogy.

Do you notice a trend in Hollywood here? Blame George Lucas and Peter Jackson for making cinematic trilogies cool (and profitable too).

Contactmusic.com noted author Roth's explanation of 'Divergent''s plot is one of the first things you'll hear when you watch the clip (watch below).

"At some point in everybody's life you have to decide if you're gonna stick with the way you were raised or listen to your own internal compass," she intoned. "I think the reason so many people have connected to [the story] is because it's something you can identify with."

Indeed, the novel version has attracted considerable praise among critics and adulation from adolescent readers. And eventually, it has attracted the interest of Hollywood, with Summit Entertainment winning the bid and buying the rights for the film adaptation.

The featurette is interspersed by clips which made the movie's final cut, including Kate Winslet in character as the evil Jeanine Matthews, the main antagonist. It also shows Shailene Woodley playing Tris, a teenager who discovers she's unlike anyone else and could not be placed into any of the five pre-ordained groups into which the rest of humanity fits into. Thus she is considered "Divergent."

"The five different factions of families, you have to choose to belong to one of them [...] It's about belonging somewhere, making that choice, making that commitment," Winslet explained. She plays the Erudite faction's leader, who masterminded some nasty turn of events in the film, Screen Rant reported.

"['Divergent'] takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions through the characters' experiences," Woodley promised during her interview.

The sci-fi adventure film also stars Theo James, Zoe Kravitz, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, and Jai Courtney.
