Could Alvaro Morata be headed to Arsenal or Manchester United?
Rumors have intensified after the Real Madrid striker admitted that his time with the big club could be coming to an end.
"It's important to have a proper role in the team," said Morata about his role with Madrid, according to The Mirror. "I've been at Real Madrid my whole life and I've been a Real Madrid fan since I was a boy. I will be all my life, but it's important to have an important role.
"If the moment comes that I don't, I will look at other options. Staying at Real Madrid is complicated. Playing five or 10 minutes is okay if you accept it. You have the chance to get on the pitch and try to change a game in a short space of time. Every minute in football is gold."
The resurgence of Karim Benzema and manager Carlo Ancelotti's seeming trust in Jesé Rodriguez over Morata has pushed the promising striker down in the pecking order. Morata had a promising start to the season and was deemed a favorite to take over the starting role at the striker position as Benzema not only failed to establish his presence, but also was also jeered and booed by Madrid fans at every home game.
United and Arsenal have been rumored as teams interested in the star. Arsenal would be the obvious choice for Morata as he would only have to worry about competing with Olivier Giroud for the top spot; the Frenchman has struggled to find his form of late and would be likely split time or even lose his spot to Morata if the Spaniard managed to find his rhythm with more consistent playing time.
Manchester United is a more complex situation. Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney are the first choice strikers for the team and have virtually forced Javier Hernandez out of the Old Trafford. How would Morata fit in when another young striker has already been forced out?
