On Jan. 10, Kino Lorber will release "The Rocket" to rave reviews.

The film tells the story of a boy who is believed to bring bad luck to everyone around him that leads his family and two new friends through Laos to find a new home. After a calamity-filled journey through a land scarred by the legacy of war, to prove he's not bad luck he builds a giant rocket to enter the most exciting and dangerous competition of the year: the Rocket Festival.

The movie made its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival and later went on to win the Tribeca Film festival. The movie was then selected to be Australia's official Oscar selection. However, the movie did not make the top nine shortlist. "The Rocket" has garnered rave reviews and currently has a 100 percent aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Jordan Hoffman from Film.com gave the film a positive review and wrote, "If you aren't moved by the 'The Rocket' your heart is defective"

Louise Keller from Urban Cinefile also liked it and wrote, "With its themes of loss and redemption, 'The Rocket' is effective, simple storytelling with many layers and a film that tells more stories than its narrative suggests."

Rodrigo Perez from the Playlist gave the film an A- and wrote, "Endearing, gripping and heartwarming, 'The Rocket' recently won the 'World Narrative Competition' prize at Tribeca, and it's easy to see why. The picture is crowd pleasing and enjoyable, but admiringly respectful and carefully considered."

Brandon Judell from CultureCatch also praised the movie. He wrote, "Never less than charming and stirring in its ability to recreate a childhood that overcomes chaos, 'The Rocket,' abetted with a convincing cast led by two superb child actors, proves instantly why it's been winning accolades worldwide."

Latinos Post wrote "'The Rocket' is an exceptional film with stellar performances and tremendous filmmaking."

"The Rocket" was directed by Kim Mourdant and will be released in limited release.
