The "Transformers" franchise is going through a major makeover in terms of its casting and other iconic imagery for "Age of Extinction". According to Perez Hilton, Mark Wahlberg has replaced Shia LaBeouf as the lead actor for the fourth installment of the movie. Nicola Peltz will play the female lead, while there are also new versions of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and other "bots" that were seen in the previous films.
In addition, Wahlberg said:
It was a tighter script and its own stand alone thing. I think the emotional core of it, the human element, is going to be extremely powerful. It's an ordinary man trying to do extraordinary things to save his daughter and keep her alive -- and this boyfriend he didn't know anything about. He'd had a child when he was in high school and his wife passed away, and the promise he'd made to her was that she wouldn't date any boys until she graduated and that she'd be at the graduation -- because we weren't due to the pregnancy. So there's an anchor to it and a realness to it that I like a lot.
The film is set to be released this year with hints as to the introduction of the Dinobots, including the much loved Grimlock. According to a report from Screencrush, the first full trailer would be released during the Super Bowl TV coverage and is set to hit cinemas by June 27, 2014.
Notably, director Michael Bay also laid to rest rumors that he apologized for the first three "Tranformers" films because he depicted the robots as "goofy."
According to kpopstarz.com, Bay explained:
"No, I did not apologize for any Transformers movies. I did not say I shot the last three movies 'less cool' than the new fourth installment. I was talking specifically about camera style and tone, of the first movie compared to how I shot the new installment with a very big scale, cinematic style. I was very specific in saying the first Transformers was shot in a 'generic suburbia' area, not trying to be cool with any cinematic flashes. I wanted it to feel like this could happen in any backyard in the United States."
