Glee's fifth season began after cast member Cory Monteith's passing. The show's producers and director faced the challenge of getting the ball rolling with its usual charm and appeal sans one of its lead stars. Notably, they made a wise move by addressing the elephant in the room and paying tribute to the contributions of one of its fallen member and his character.
However, after a roller coaster of episodes and a winter hiatus, the show will be back on February 25 this year with the season's 9th episode, which is also its 97th episode since the teen musical comedy-drama began in 2009. Three episodes after would be the monumental 100.
There's been a lot of buzz over its 100th episode - who'll be in it, what's going to happen, and what songs they'll sing. Although the full details of the milestone episode is still largely under wraps, Hypable has previously reported that the show's creator, Ryan Murphy, has invited "ALL" cast members for the 100th episode - which makes this particular chapter a highly anticipated one by Gleeks and TV audiences.
So far, what's official is that actress Kristin Chenoweth will be appearing alongside the main cast on the 100thinstallment of the popular series, according to Wetpaint. Dianna Agron's Quinn will also make an appearance on the said episode.
International Business Times also reports that Heather Morris, who plays Britanny, will be seen sharing scenes with Naya Rivera's Santana. The Latina star confirmed this via a Twitter post which said: "Unexpected Glee shoot today before the holiday break. Scenes with heather!"
This bit of news has got fans giddy with excitement and wondering about the songs and the scenes the actresses shot. While it isn't clear what songs will be included in the 100th episode, what's sure is that most or all of them have been decided by the fans themselves. The show's creators have conducted an online poll on what songs fans want the cast to perform. Voting have since been closed.
Glee's 100th episode will be shown March 18 on Fox at 8 p.m. EST.
