Fox has released the first picture to David Fincher's latest film "Gone Girl."
The new movie, starring Ben Affleck, tells the story of a woman who mysteriously disappears on the day of her wedding anniversary. The film is an adaptation of the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn.
Flynn adapted the screenplay, which also stars Rosamund Pike ("Jack Reacher"), Neil Patrick Harris ("The Smurfs"), Tyler Perry ("The Single Moms Club"), Kim Dickens ("The Blind Side"), Missi Pyle ("The Artist"), and Patrick Fugit ("We Bought a Zoo").
The new film marks the first collaboration by Fincher and Affleck and also marks a return to the mystery drama for the director, a genre that made Fincher famous.
Fincher is known for his work on "Zodiac," "Se7en," "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," and "Fight Club." He also directed "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," and "The Social Network" for which he obtained Oscar nominations for both films.
Affleck was recently cast as Batman for the new Zack Snyder film "Batman vs. Superman." He was recently seen in "Runner Runner" and "Argo," which won the Oscar for Best Picture and which he directed. Affleck has also been seen in "To the Wonder," "State of Play," "The Town" and "Good Will Hunting."
"Gone Girl" was produced by Leslie Dixon, Bruno Papandrea, and Reese Witherspoon and is slated to be released on Oct. 3, 2014.
