So you're done with the reruns and the marathon catch-up sessions. You're now ready for a new batch of shows to watch in the coming year. Here's a run down of the ones that will get your palms rubbing against each other in anticipation.

HBO: 'True Detective'

With the stellar casting of Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey, and Michelle Monaghan, you'll forget this crime drama is not a movie. Nic Pizzolato takes you through a "slow burn" in the first episode and segues you to scarier turn of events at around the third episode, The Wrap reported. Set in Louisiana, the series "nails the state's mix of beauty, mystery, and gothic horror." Mark your calendars - the show premieres on January 12.

IFC: 'The Spoils of Babylon'

Produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, this is another TV miniseries that feels like a movie, thanks to a star-studded cast. There's Tobey Maguire, Jessica Alba, Haley Joel Osment, Kristen Wiig, Val Kilmer, Tim Robbins, and even Ferrell himself playing out the melodramatic story that will "leave no sweeping cliché unswept." Tune in on January 9 for the premiere.

BBC America: 'Fleming: The Man Who Would be Bond'

This retelling of James Bond creator Ian Fleming's life story will leave you convinced that the author was actually writing about himself and his controversial exploits. Dominic Cooper's Fleming played the field and also took his martinis shaken, not stirred. He also got involved in a war effort and outwit his own opponents. Premieres on January 29.

Fox: 'Rake'

In this comedy drama, Greg Kinnear plays Keegan Deane, a defense lawyer "with addiction issues and a self-destructive streak," according to The Wrap. Sounds familiar? Wait, there's more: "On a single day, Keegan Deane is described as many things. His ex-wife-calls him 'unreliable'; his son calls him a 'pal'; most judges think he's 'an outrage'; the IRS calls him a 'defendant'; and to his former dealer, he's simply a 'tragic loss.'" Watch Kinnear bring the character to life on January 23.
