'12 Years a Slave' Leads Central Ohio Film Critics Nominations

The Central Ohio Film Critics has announced its nominations for the end of the year awards.

Leading the charge is "12 Years a Slave," which received 10 nominations. The nominations the film received included Best Picture, Best Director for Steve McQueen, Best Ensemble, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Actor for Chiwetel Ejiofor. Michael Fassbender received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor while Lupita Nyong'o received one in the Best Supporting Actress category.

Other Best Picture nominees included "American Hustle," "Before Midnight," "Frances Ha," "Gravity," "Her," "Inside Llewyn Davis," "Nebraska," "Upstream Color," and "The Wolf of Wall Street."

McQueen was accompanied by Spike Jonze ("Her"), Alfonso Cuaron ("Gravity"), Alexander Payne ("Nebraska"), David O. Russell ("American Hustle"), and Martin Scorsese ("The Wolf of Wall Street") in the Best Director race.

The nominees for Best Actor included Tom Hanks ("Captain Phillips"), Michael B. Jordan ("Fruitvale Station"), Matthew McConaughey ("Dallas Buyers Club"), and Joaquin Phoenix ("Her").

In the Best Actress race, front-runner Cate Blanchett was nominated for "Blue Jasmine" alongside Amy Adams for "American Hustle," Adèle Exarchopoulos for "Blue is the Warmest Color," Greta Gerwig for "Frances Ha," and Brie Larson for "Short Term 12."

The nominees for Best Foreign Film were "The Hunt," "Beyond the Hills," "Blue is the Warmest Color," "The Grandmaster," and "The Wind Rises."

Meanwhile, the nominees for the Most Overlooked film were "Mud," "Short Term 12," "The Spectacular Now" and "Stoker."
