Gareth Bale cannot catch a break in 2013-14. The Welsh superstar recently suffered a calf injury.
"After the tests carried out this morning on the player Gareth Bale by the Servicios Medicos Sanitas Real Madrid, it was confirmed that he had just suffered bruising in the calf muscle of his left leg as the consequence of a bang received from a teammate during yesterday's training session," said a statement on the team's website. "His participation in next Sunday's game against Valencia C. F. has not been ruled out."
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti echoed the final statement and noted that his latest acquisition could make an appearance in the team's final match before the January break.
"[Bale] had a problem with his calf half an hour ago and we'll have to see how he progresses," Ancelotti added. "It does not look like he'll have problems playing on Sunday."
Bale struggled with injuries early on in his tenure with the club and was out for a number of games. The injury hampered his form and Bale struggled mightily during the first few games he played with the Spanish club. The low point for Bale came during the first Clasico of the season against Barcelona. Bale was booked in that game and failed to create any major scoring chances; the team actually improved when he was removed from the match.
Since then Bale has put up tremendous stats for Real Madrid and even scored a hat trick in a recent match against Valladolid.
