Mexican singer Vicente Fernández is under investigation by Spanish authorities for his alleged involvement with illegal activities related to money laundering for Colombian drug trafficking.

Since the famous singer made a series of concerts for his farewell tour, Spanish newspaper El País said that the Civil Guard suspects that his concerts might have been used to launder money.

Fernández offered concerts in the Spanish cities of Madrid, Murcia and Barcelona in June, 2012 under a contract made with "Total Conciertos", run by Andrés Barco.

The newspaper said that Blanco is directly linked with members of Colombian criminal groups, among them Pipe Bueno, son of a dangerous drug trafficker known as "El Percherón", and was in charge of helping the event by hiring singer Johnny Rivera to open for Fernández.

During the three concerts offered by the singer, over 300 thousand Euro were laundered and according to the Civil Guard, Fernández didn't receive a single cent for his concerts in Spain, and that the concerts were sponsored by organized crime.

One of the women belonging to the drug trafficking network said that to launder money during the singer's concerts, entry was completely free, but a montage was created to trick authorities into thinking tickets had been sold legally.

Furthermore, the Spanish newspaper said that authorities have the testimony of an employee of the bank that the Colombian organization used to transfer the profits made by the Mexican singer.

Other witnesses said that for every performance, they won 800 thousand Euro, which is considered to be too much for a concert for any singer in Spain, owing to the deep economic crisis Spanish citizens currently face.

Fernández might be called in as a witness to the Spanish Civil Guard and declare how and when he was paid for his concerts during his farewell tour, under suspicion that he was hired by a Colombian cartel.
