Mother of cyborgs! It has been confirmed by Deadline that the Mother of Dragons from "Game of Thrones" will not be breathing fire and blood in her new movie; she will be playing the role of another mother, this time, as the mother of revolutionary leader John Connor of the "Terminator" reboot.
Emilia Clarke, the 26-year-old actress who scored critical acclaims for her role as Daenerys Targaryen, will be kicking it up a notch in the silver screen as a machine gun-wielding mother. Emilia bested the coveted role from Brie Larson (from "21 Jump Street") and Margot Robbie (from "The Wolf of Wall Street"). She follows in the footsteps of Linda Hamilton ("Terminator 1 and 2") and "Game of Thrones" co-star, Lena Heady (from Fox's TV Series, "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles").
The British Actress joins Aussie actor Jason Clarke (no, they're not related) and Arnold Schwarzenegger for the next installment in the "Terminator" series.
According to MTV News, Genesis will be Schwarzenegger's first major appearance since his role in "Terminator: Rise of the Machines."
The "Terminator" team will then be casting the male lead, Kyle Reese. According to Variety, Garret Hedlund from "Tron: Legacy", Nicholas Hoult from "X-Men: First Class", and Boyd Holbrook from "The Host" are the frontrunners for the role.
Mstarz.com also reported that Jason Clarke's character as John Connor will be older than his mother due to time travelling tactics that are yet to be discovered in the new movie.
"Terminator: Genesis" is the fifth movie in the franchise. The script was written by Laeta Kalogridis (from "Shutter Island") and Patrick Lussier (from "Drive Angry"). It will be directed by Alan Taylor, who, incidentally, has also directed "Game of Thrones."
The reboot will start production early in 2014 in order to make it to its July 1, 2015 release date.
