"iPhone 5s sales saw an upward sales momentum as Apple continued expansive roll-out for its flagship model thus further widening the gap with its arch rival's flagship model Samsung's Galaxy S4," noted Counterpoint, adding the Apple smartphone topped the list despite shortages of the device's components.
With the iPhone 5s as the top smartphone worldwide during October, the No. 2 spot also went to an Apple smartphone - the discontinued iPhone 5. The Galaxy S4 surfaced at third place, ahead of the iPhone 5c.
Although Apple held the top spot, Samsung dominated the top 10 list with the Galaxy Note 3 at fifth, Galaxy S3 taking sixth, and the Galaxy S4 mini securing seventh. The Galaxy S3 mini snagged ninth place, behind the Nokia 105 and ahead of the Nokia Asha 501.
Counterpoint, however, did not reveal estimates of the number of units sold during October for any of the top 10 mobile phones.
Sales for the iPhone 5s are expected to increase as shipping delays from Apple's official website have been reduced significantly since its launch in September. As Latinos Post reported, the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB iPhone 5s, regardless of color model, are expected to ship "Within 24 hours" of its purchase.
The features for the iPhone 5s are, for the most part, the same specifications as the discontinued iPhone 5, such as the 4-inch Retina Display with 1,136x640 resolution, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and 1080p HD video recording camera, to name a few. The iPhone 5s, however, features a larger f/2.2 aperture for the rear-facing camera with the aim of improving low-light photography. The iPhone 5s utilizes the A7 processor chip with 64-bit architecture, which plays a critical role with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
Is the iPhone 5s worth the buy?
