Everything seems to indicate that the constant scandals Miley Cyrus has been involved with did little to damage her popularity. Despite the controversy surrounding her, or perhaps because of it, the former Hannah Montana star was chosen by MTV as "Artist of the Year".
According to Mexican newspaper El Universal, MTV recently listed 2013's biggest artists, and the pop artist's fans couldn't be happier with the list.
Miley Cyrus left artists like Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Bruno Mars and Katy Perry behind, in what many consider to be one of the biggest entertainment surprises of the year.
According to news website Terra, MTV published their list on December 9 and in it, the former child star, whose act in the MTV Music Awards with Robin Thicke became one of the most controversial events of the year, easily dethroned One Direction.

After the controversial video Cyrus starred in for Love Magazine, in which she decided to wear a pair of antlers and drew a penis on her skin-colored body suit, she surprised her followers by twerking Santa.
According to Europa Press, the popular artist offered a recital for KIIS FM, in which her provocative outfit surprised those present, who expected a conservative Christmas performance.
This time, Miley Cyrus' Santa showed up with a bottle of liquor and willing to twerk with the pop star.
