Canadian rockers Avril Lavigne and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger are engage, PEOPLE magazine reports. The news was confirmed by the "Complicated" singer's representative on Tuesday.
Lavigne, 27, and Kroeger, 37, began dating six months ago when they came together to work on Lavigne's upcoming album. According to PEOPLE, Kroeger proposed to Lavigne on August 8 with a 14-carat diamond ring.
his will be the first marriage for Kroeger, but the second for Lavigne, who was married to Sum 41 frontman, Deryck Whibley from 2006 to 2010. Grammy-nominated Lavigne previously dated Brody Jenner, son of ex-Olympian Bruce Jenner.
Soon after news of the engagement came out, Lavigne retweeted followers' congratulatory tweets, including one from Kroeger's band mates that simply read, "Congratulations Avril and Chad!"
The couple was interviewed by HELLO! Canada, where Kroeger told the magazine, "I knew I was falling for her," of working with Lavigne. "It was incredibly powerful and something I'll never forget."
No wedding date has been set, Reuters reports.
