The Boston Film Critics have named "12 Years a Slave" the Best Film of the Year.
The film also took home the Best Director award for Steve McQueen and the Best Actor for Chiwetel Ejiofor. The win comes a few days after garnering Best Film from Boston's other critics' circle, the online film critics.
"Enough Said" saw a lot of love with the critics naming James Gandolfini the Best Supporting Actor of the year while Nicole Holofcener received the Best Screenplay award for the film.
"Nebraska" also received a number of accolades with June Squibb obtaining the Best Supporting Actress award. The film also received the Best Ensemble Award.
Cate Blanchett continued to lead the Best Actress race winning for her role in "Blue Jasmine" while Ryan Coogler received yet another Best New Filmmaker award.
Meanwhile, "The Wind Rises" and "The Act of Killing" continued to dominate their respective fields and are starting to emerge as front-runners for Animation and Documentary.
A couple of technical awards were given out with "Gravity" winning the Cinematography accolade and "Rush" garnering the Best Editing award. "Inside Llewyn Davis" won the Best Music award.
The Boston Film critics have a history of picking films that that are popular among critic circles and that end up winning or getting nominated for the Best Picture at the Oscar. Recent winners include "Zero Dark Thirty," "The Artist," "The Social Network," "The Hurt Locker" and "Slumdog Millionaire."
