Google's Android platform continued to surge in the smartphone operating system market share in China.
Based on new data released by Kantar Worldpanel, Android was the only smartphone platform to encounter an increase in its market share. The Google mobile operating system saw its usage go up by 8.4 percentage points.

With the percentage increase, Android accounted for 78.1 percent of the smartphone operating system market share for the three months ending in October 2013. In comparison to the same period last year, Google represented 69.7 percent.
Apple encountered the worst percentage loss, according to Kantar Worldpanel's figures. Apple's iOS fell by 3.4 percentage points between the three months ending in October last year and the same period in 2013. By the time October 2013 concluded, Apple's smartphone operating system accounted for 15.5 percent, down from 18.9 percent last year.
Microsoft's Windows Phone maintained third place. Windows Phone saw a minor slip of 0.4 percentage points. The Microsoft mobile platform received 3.5 percent of the market share for the three months ending in October this ear, which is down from the 3.9 percent last year.
BlackBerry fell by 0.1 percentage points. BlackBerry's fall resulted in the mobile operating system to represent 0.0 percent of the market share in China, which is down from the 0.1 percent last year.
