Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder's "Batman vs. Superman."
Variety is reporting that the "Fast and Furious" star will play the female lead in the upcoming movie. Snyder said, "Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character,"
Gadot was one of the many actresses who tested for the role. Elodie Yung and Olga Kurylenko were also among the other actresses to audition for the role.
Gadot was last seen in "The Fast and Furious 6″ and as well as "Fast Five." The actress has also starred in "Knight and Day," "Date Night" and the TV show "Entourage." Her other credits include "Asfur," "Eretz Nehederet" and "The Beautiful Life: TBL."
"Batman vs. Superman" is currently in pre-production with production slated to begin in spring 2014. The film will star Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. Snyder will direct a script by David Goyer, with Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven producing the film. Larry Fong will serve as director of cinematography while Michael Wilkinson will design the costumes.
Warner Bros. will release the film on July 17, 2015.
