The NFL playoff picture has changed dramatically according to the latest results of games played through week 13 according to the NFL.com. The following are the highlights of Sunday night's football games.
In a report on NFL.com, Denver's victory over the Kansas City Chief's places the Broncos to be the favorite as the top seed in the conference for the playoffs. The Broncos, behind four touchdowns from quarterback Peyton Manning to wide out Eric Decker, eked out a 35 to 28 win over the Chiefs.
For the game, Decker collected eight catches for 174, a personal best for the wide receiver. The Broncos now have a 10 win 2 loss card to top the AFC West Division. With just four games left in the season, Denver has the tiebreaker over the 9-3 Chiefs because of its two wins between their head-to-head matchup.
In another reported marquee matchup, the San Francisco 49ers had posted a hard earned win over the St. Louis Rams in their game at Candlestick Park. The 23-13 win had dashed the hopes of the Rams of earning a playoff berth with a card of 5 wins and seven losses.
The game saw Kapernick throw a game high 275 yards. Running back Frank Gore carried for a three-yard touchdown. The win boosted the Niners standings to 8 wins and four losses. The other touchdowns of the game came from a 60 yard reception from Crabtree while Vernon Davis ran into the end zone after a 17 yard reception.
The third game last Sunday saw the San Diego Chargers defense pulverized by the Cincinnati Bengal offense with a 17 to 10 victory last Sunday. The game was close at 7 all when a fumble was initiated by Bengals' Dre Kirkpatrick from Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, who received the ball at the Cincinnati 25. This was the turning point of the game, as the next possession saw the Bengals dominate the game until the final horn.
