In last Sunday's episode of Seth McFarlane's "Family Guy", one of the main characters of the long-running animated TV show died. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the talking dog Brian was killed off by the show's writers. He died after being run over by a car when he and Stewie went out to play. Brian sustaining severe injuries in the accident.

The news of the beloved pooch's death moved many of the loyal fans to seek the return of Brian to the show. Just hours after the show aired, a top entertainment petition calling for the return of Brian Griffin to the show was posted on Change.org.

According to TheWrap.com. the petition was launched by Aaron Thompson of Tuscaloosa, AL. He wrote, "Brian Griffin was an important part of our viewing experience. He added a witty and sophisticated element to the show. 'Family Guy' and Fox Broadcasting will lose viewers if Brian Griffin is not brought back to the show,"

The petition has gained ground, already accumulating 1,500 signatures as well impassioned pleas for the return of Brian, who talks smart, claims to be an author and is an unquestioned boozer and smoker. There is also a Facebook page named "RIP Brian Griffin from Family Guy", according to Entertainment Wise. The page has aready accumulated over 121,000 likes since it was put up late Sunday.

It remains unclear why the show's writers decided to kill off the character. The last words uttered by Brian, "You've given me a wonderful life. I love you all" as he flatlined being looked over by the Griffins. Despite efforts by Stewie to go back in time to save his beloved friend, he couldn't as his time machine was broken. The family seeks to move on getting a new pooch instead.

Apparently, the fans of Brian don't look forward to that. Everyone awaits a response from McFarlane and Fox Broadcasting on the matter.
