Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have signed on as producers for Warner Bros.' upcoming "Sleeper."

Variety is reporting that the project has long been in development for DC Comics. The project will also be produced by Jennifer Todd.

The studio also brought Shawn Ryan and David Wiener to write the script and adapt it from DC Entertainment's Vertigo imprint series written by Ed Brubaker with art by Sean Phillips.

"Sleeper" is set in a noir universe where a few people are spontaneously developing superpowers. The film will follow Holden Carver, a man who can absorb pain and pass it on to others, as he infiltrates a criminal organization on behalf of a law enforcement agency. His allegiances come into question when he falls for the alluring killer, Miss Misery.

Affleck and Damon will develop the project through their Pearl Street banner. No director or actors have been attached to "Sleeper"; Lynn Harris will supervise for the studio.

The project is the latest DC comics film to be produced by Warner Bros. They have previously developed "V For Vendetta," "Watchmen" and "Green lantern." The company has also developed the Batman films and Superman movies. Currently the studio is working on "Batman vs. Superman."

Affleck recently won an Academy Award for Best Director for his work on the Best Picture winner "Argo." He has also directed "The Town" and "Gone Baby Gone." He has been in "Runner Runner," "The Company Men" and "Good Will Hunting" with Damon.

Damon was last seen in "Behind the Candelabra," "Elysium" and "Promised Land." He will next be seen in "The Monuments Men" and "The Zero Theorem."
