Actress Eva Longoria wants to start a political career and become a U.S. Senator to support the Latino community, according to the latest reports.
National Enquirer reported about the political ambitions of the "Desperate Housewives" star, who has also been outspoken in her defense of the rights of Hispanics in the United States.
CNN described the importance of Longoria, a native of Corpus Christi, Texas, in President Obama's reelection campaign. Longoria was named co-director of proposing key subjects for the candidate's proposals.
"Eva wants to start her career from the bottom, maybe in a city hall in her natal Texas or as Mayor of San Antonio or Corpus Christi. Her two-year plan is to get to the Senate," reported E! News.
Actor George Clooney has supported Longoria as he has the same political ideology as President Obama, and he has given advice to the actress on how to act and move around political circles in the country.
The actress' main idea is to reach the Senate in two years and join other artists that have left show business to join politics, like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan.
Actress Ashley Judd has already taken her first steps towards become a Senator, according to E! News, which might make it easier for Longoria to follow suit.
The actress, who was recently seen with José Bastón, the President of Television and Content of Mexican TV network Televisa, wants to help the Latino community even more and she thinks the best way to do it is by going into politics.
Longoria was 2009's Philanthropist of the Year, and according to CNN, the actress owns various organizations which seek to support society, among them "Eva's Heroes" for young people with disabilities; "Parents Against Cancer" and "Rally for Kids", both dedicated to fighting cancer.
