Brazil continues to stake its claim as the favorite for next summer's World Cup after defeating Chile 2-1 in a friendly on Tuesday.
The Brazilians have not lost since a friendly against Switzerland in August and have been terrific against such sides as Australia, Honduras and Portugal. The Chileans have also been formidable with a statement win at the Wembley Stadium over England last Friday.
Both sides played aggressively throughout the opening the of the match, but a poor pass from Chile's defense wound up on a Brazilian foot, and eventually made its way to Hulk who fired a shot from the left of the box to give Brazil a 1-0 lead. Chile responded with a goal in the second half, while Brazil eventually earned the winner off a scramble that was blasted in by Robinho.
The Brazilians have shown few weaknesses of late with their potent offense operating on all cylinders. Hulk's goal was a huge one for the winger as he has struggled to find a consistent form for the team. Robinho's goal gives the AC Milan star a chance to win back a place in the team ahead of the World Cup next summer.
Kaka's resurgence for AC Milan could also be a huge factor. He was not called up for this set of friendlies, but could certainly make a return to the squad if he continues to lead the Italian side the way he has to this point.
The loss was a harsh one for Chile who continued to show an impressive game of speed and pressure.
