The body of a man that fell to the sea from a plane on Nov. 14 was found by US rescue teams.
The Associated Press reported Detective Alvaro Zabaleta released a statement saying that a body found near mangroves could belong to Gerardo Nales, who fell from the Piper Malibu plane in southern Miami.
According to Live Atc.net, the audio where the plane's pilot reports what's happening and asks for help from air traffic control was released.
"I've got a semi-open door and a passenger fell. I'm six miles out from Tamiami," the pilot said.
One of the air traffic controllers asks him, "Did you say a passenger fell from your plane?" and the pilot affirms it.
"He opened the back door and just fell from the plane," the pilot said nonchalantly.
According to El Nuevo Herald, the plane was flying east at 2,000 feet over Biscayne Bay when the 42-year-old man fell from the plane.
Spokesperson Kathleen Bergen said she didn't know where the plane was headed since its pilot had not filled out the appropriate forms before taking off. So far the authorities have not managed to locate the pilot who transported Gerardo Nales.
Miami rescue teams began to look for the man until they found a body south of Southwest 184th Street, although it has not been yet confirmed to belong to Niles, authorities are already investigating what prompted his fall from the plane.
El Nuevo Herald points out that authorities said that Nales opened the plane's door and jumped out of his own accord, so they don't dismiss this could be a suicide. Nales had asked the pilot to fly him for many months.
