Syria and Singapore will face off in the Asian Cup qualifiers on Friday.

The team then followed that game with a 2-0 defeat at home against Oman; both goals in that game were scored in the first half. In its more recent game, Singapore managed to break the losing streak and took down Syria 2-1 at home. Khairul Amri scored in 62^nd minute for Singapore to give the team a 1-0 lead; Gabriel Quak doubled the lead 20 minutes later before Syria's Raja Rafe added a consolation goal in the 89^th minute.

Syria opened its tournament with a 1-0 loss at Oman. In its second game the team took a 1-0 lead over Jordan in the 49^th minute but conceded a 57^thminute in what ultimately became a 1-1 draw. Its most recent game was the loss in Singapore.

This will be the third match between the two teams. They first faced off in 1978 in a game won by Singapore. The most recent match was the aforementioned 2-1 Singapore win.

Prediction: Syria will be home and should get the benefit of the doubt. Look for the nation to pull off a 1-0 win.
