Actress and entrepreneur Eva Longoria is taking her producer role very serious. According to Deadline, the 38-year-old star has teamed up with comedian Erik Rivera to produce a new half-hour comedy on NBC.
Longoria's production company, UnbeliEVAble Entertainment, sold the project to NBC. It will be based on Rivera's life and standup, and is set to include "Welcome to the Family" writer, Peter Murietta. Scott Willis, Longoria, and Ben Spector will executive produce the upcoming series. According to Deadline, the series is a "reminiscent of ABC's The George Lopez Show."
Besides producing the comedy, Longoria will also be involved in a new soap opera. Deadline reported that the former "Desperate Housewives" star sold a drama to Lifetime, titled "Blackout." The project, which will be written by Elle Triedman (ABC's "Revenge"), will follow the story of a woman whose failed career makes her return home to a small town run by her estranged siblings after 10 years away. She will try to get along with her family and her past, but the murder of a teenage girl will put her face to face with her demons.
Back in August, the New York Post reported Longoria was going to executive produce an NBC comedy series based on the real-life sex and experiences of relationship therapist Laura Berman.
According to Voxxi.com, the sitcom will follow the therapist and her patients who are dealing with unusual fetishes, intimacy and love. It will also navigate the therapist's relationships with her ex-husband, his new girlfriend and her own mother, while she takes care of her two young sons.
Dr. Laura Berman, who is a renowned sex and relationship expert and has a show on OWN called "In the Bedroom With Dr. Laura Berman," will be a consulting producer. Berman is a New York Times best-selling author of several books on sexual health and pleasure. She also writes a weekly column for the Chicago Sun Times.
According to Voxxi, Berman has helped countless couples improve their sex lives, build stronger relationships and achieve a heightened level of intimacy. She is considered a thought leader and innovator in her field, who's been a therapist, researcher and sex educator for more than 20 years.
