In anticipation for the new "Divergent" trailer Summit Entertainment has released five new posters.
The character posters include Tori (Maggie Q), Peter (Miles Tellers), Max (Mekhi Phifer), Eric (Jai Courtney) and Christina (Zoe Kravitz).
Summit will unveil the second trailer on Nov. 13 at 11:30 a.m. EST in a livestreaming event that will be hosted by the film's director Neil Burger.
The new movie is based on the Veronica Roth novel, which tells the story of Tris, a teenager with a special mind who finds her life threatened when an authoritarian leader seeks to exterminate her kind in an effort to seize control of their divided society.
The film has been compared to "The Hunger Games," and Summit is hoping the movie will be as successful and continue as a franchise. Summit will show the trailer in front of "The Hunger Games" in order to get the same audience excited for the new movie.
In the past years various young adult novel adaptations have opened to mixed results. While "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" were able to score record openings, several films have failed to gain traction at the box office. "The Chronicles of Narnia" was the first to suffer this fate. While the first film was a major success, the second and third failed to capture good results at the box office and plans of a fourth and fifth installment were scrapped. Other films include "Eragon," "The Golden Compass," "I Am Number Four," and recently, "Ender's Game."
"Divergent" also stars Kate Winslet, Ansel Elgort and Ashley Judd. The movie is slated to be released on March 21, 2013.
