Mexican authorities said on Wednesday that a two-week-old Hispanic baby was recovered after a routine inspection at a checkpoint in Mexico.
According to CBS, the baby was kidnapped on last Tuesday by his own father, Mesut Guler, a 22-years-old Turkish national, in an apartment in Sunnyvale after an apparent argument with his partner.
After the mother alerted authorities, an Amber Alert was activated in California, which led to the location of the Envoy GMC 2004 tan-colored truck, with California plate 6HIL892, that belonged to Guler.
According to La Opinión, on Wednesday morning, authorities managed to locate the alleged kidnapper in San Diego, close to the border with Mexico, after many witnesses alerted the California Highway Patrol to seeing Guler with a baby, however, they did not manage to detain him.
Finally, Guler was arrested at a Mexican checkpoint, after Arizona Border Patrol agents carried out a routine inspection and discovered there was a warrant against the man.
Hery Guler-Romero, the two-week-old baby was found safe and sound and was then delivered to his mother in Sunnyvale, in the Bay Area.
Sunnyvale authorities told local media that the kidnapping was due to an argument between Guler and the mother of the child, after Guler insisted in moving to New York, a proposal the mother had rejected many times before, reports CBS.
