The Salzburg Festival has announced its 2014 summer lineup.

One of the highlights of the festival will be Verdi's "Il Trovatore," which will reunite Placido Domingo, Anna Netrebko and Francesco Meli from the sold out run of the composer's "Giovanna D'Arco" this past summer. The production will be directed by Alvis Hermanis and conducted by Danielle Gatti. Marie-Nicole Lemieux and Riccardo Zanellato will round out the cast.

Another highlight is Donizetti's "La Favorite," which is rarely performed. The opera will be performed in concert with Elina Garanca and Juan Diego Florez. Nello Santi will conduct the Munchner Rundfundkor.

Cecilia Bartoli will also return to the festival after her revelatory "Norma." The Italian Mezzo will sing Rossini's "La Cenrentola" in a new production by Damiano Michieletto. The opera will also star Javier Camrena and Nicola Alaimo.

Daniel Barenboim will also take the podium for an abridged version of Wagner's "Tristan und Isolde" with an extraordinary cast that includes Waltraud Meier, Peter Seiffert, Rene Pape and Ekaterina Gubanova.

The festival will also present a new production of "Don Giovanni," Richard Strauss' "Der Rosenkavalier" and Franz Schubert's "Fierrabras."

The recital series will include Anna Prohaska, Thomas Hampson, Garanca, Anja Harteros, Piotr Beczala, Diana Damrau, Maurizio Pollini, Evgeny Kissin and Anne-Sophie Mutter.

There will also be a Bruckner symphony cycle performed by the Vienna Philharmonic. Among the conductors who will appear at the festival are Christoph von Dohnanyi, Bernard Haitink, Riccardo Mutti, Eska-Pekka Salonen, Mariss Jansons and Chritoph Eschenbach.

The festival will run from July 18 to Aug. 31.
