As seen in his LinkedIn profile, Lamiraux retired in October and an email to 9to5Mac confirmed his departure as of a "couple weeks ago."
"Sources within Apple's iOS division say Lamiraux is respected and he was in charge of developing the applications that come with iOS," reported 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman. "The executive also led feature-implementation across the operating system, and he managed both bug-fixing processes and feature distribution to consumers."
According to LinkedIn, Lamiraux started his Apple career as a software engineer for the Mac operating system in 1990. He would serve the position for 10 years before becoming Software Engineering Manager for the OS X platform. Lamiraux also served as senior director of software engineering for iOS apps and frameworks and director of software engineering for the OS X platform experience.
Lamiraux's departure reportedly came after the third update of the iOS 7 mobile operating system.
