Mexico will look to earn its second straight finals berth in the U-17 World Cup when it takes on Argentina in the semi-finals on Tuesday.
El Tri is the defending Champion and moved one step closer to a repeat when it managed to defeat Brazil in 11-10 penalties this past weekend.
"Things change a bit, we're a different group of players," said goalkeeper Raul Gudino, according to FIFA.com. "We were very motivated when we arrived here. We didn't necessarily feel that responsibility [of being defending champions], it was more a sense of pride that our country had won the title and that we would have to give our all to defend it. We're a new side and we're going to try and write our own story."
"I'm very proud because they showed their character and what they're made of. They've demonstrated their strength as players," added Coach Raul Gutierrez about the win.
The defending champs started their tournament with a 6-1 loss against Nigeria in the group stage. They then managed to defeat Iraq 3-0 before taking down Sweden 1-0. Mexico then took down Italy 2-0 before managing a win over Brazil in the quarterfinals.
Argentina tied Iran 1-1 in its opening match of the tournament before defeating Iran and Canada in its second and third group games. In the Round of 16, the Argentineans took down Tunisia 3-1 before dispatching the Ivory Coast in a 2-1 scoreline.
Prediction: Mexico wins 2-0.
