AS Monaco's vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has declared that Radamel Falcao will not be leaving the team during the January transfer window.
Rumors have circulated about the Colombian returning to Madrid after Real Madrid President Florentino Perez told the media that he would like to buy Falcao next summer.
"He [Falcao] won't come in January but in June, who knows?" Perez said, according to Fox Sports. "Nothing is impossible and there is a lot of time between now and then, Falcao is a great player and I am aware that he wants to play for [Real] Madrid. I am aware of that, but it's normal. They told me."
However, Monaco seems intent on making Falcao play out his five-year contract.
"Falcao signed a five-year contract and, if I have to say it a hundred times I will say, there is no clause allowing him to leave," said Vasilyev, according to DNA. "We made a big effort to bring him here and it makes no sense for him to leave, either in the winter, the summer or whenever."
Vasilyev has been active in shutting down rumors about a Falcao transfer. In September he stated that he had no intention of letting the Colombia striker leave after being chosen as the key building block for the team.
"It wouldn't make any sense to build a project around a player who could leave us after one season," Vasilyev told L'Equipe in September."There are always people who have an interest in these rumors... I would just remind you that negotiations between Tottenham and Real Madrid [for the transfer of Gareth Bale] were very difficult."
Falcao currently leads the Ligue 1 with eight goals despite being overshadowed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani of PSG.
