Argentina will take on the Ivory Coast in the quarterfinals of the 2013 U-17 World Cup Saturday.
The South American side started the competition in a group that featured Iran, Canada and Austria. In its first game, Argentina only managed a 1-1 draw with Iran after conceding a goal in the opening minute. The team then took down Austria 3-2 despite blowing a 2-1 lead late in the game. In its final match, Argentina got rid of any lingering uncertainty surrounding the team and defeated Canada soundly 3-0. In the round of 16, the team took on Tunisia and won 3-1.
Leading the way in the latest victory was Sebastian Driussi who was singled out by Tunisia Coach Abdelhay Ben Soltane.
"I tried to give my best for the group and it worked very well. The team was the star of the show, I don't want to be singled out," Driussi told FIFA. "I don't enjoy talking about myself. I'm a team player and prefer to talk about the collective effort."
The Ivorians were seeded into a tough group that included Uruguay, Italy and New Zealand. The team lost 1-0 against Italy in its first match before tying Uruguay 1-1. In its final game, the team defeated New Zealand 3-0. In the round of 16, the Ivory Coast faced Morocco and won 2-1.
Prediction: Ivory Coast made it this far by finishing third in its group; Argentina won its group. Expect the South Americans to win 2-0.
