The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, once again caught the attention of the international press, this time by claiming that the face of the late Hugo Chávez was found during an excavation in one of the tunnels of the Caracas Subway.
According to information published by news agency EFE, the President claimed on Wednesday, October 30, that the image of former President Chávez, who died last March 5th, 2013, was found by a group of workers who immediately alerted their superiors.
During a Government event in Caracas, Maduro showed a photograph in which, he said, one can see the former President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
"Look at this figure the workers found, you can talk to them (...) a face (...) whose face is this? A look, it's the look of the Fatherland which is everywhere, even in phenomenons without an explanation", Maduro said during the official act.
According to the Venezuelan President, on Wednesday he made an inspection on the advances of Line 5 of the Caracas Subway, where one of the workers showed him a picture he had taken days before of one of the tunnel walls which had been excavated.
"They showed me a cellphone, and in the cellphone they had a picture and they told me: 'look Maduro, look at this picture, we took it at 2 a.m. some days ago, we were working and all of a suddenly it appeared here, in this lower wall, this figure'. I get goosebumps just by saying it", said the controversial President.
According to EFE, President Nicolás Maduro said that the alleged image of Chávez has completely vanished, and that the only proof is the picture taken by the worker.
"Just as it appeared, it went away, so you see, what they say is true, Chávez is everywhere, Chávez is all of us", the President concluded.
