Patrick Tatopoulos will be the production designer for "Batman vs. Superman."
According to a Tweet from Production Weekly, the "Underworld" director will be the designer for the film. The tweet stated, "'Batman vs. Superman' has opened a production office at Raleigh Michigan Studios in Pontiac. Patrick Tatopoulos on as Production Designer."
The news comes a few months after it was reported that Larry Fong ("300," "Watchmen," Super 8," "Now You See Me") would join the production as cinematographer.
Tatopoulos has previously served as production designer on "Independence Day," "Dark City," "I, Robot," "Total Recall" and the upcoming "300: Rise of an Empire." He has also created the design for "ID4," "Pitch Black," "Trick 'r Treat" and the "Underworld" series. Tatopoulos made his directorial debut with a short film entitled "Bird of Passage." He later made his feature film debut in 2009 with "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans."
"Batman vs. Superman" is currently in pre-production. The film recently started shooting B-Roll footage, including a football game. Director Zack Snyder is still casting the movie, which will be produced by Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder. Kristy Carlson is currently casting the film, which will see Henry Cavill ("The Tudors"), Amy Adams ("The Master"), Laurence Fishburne ("The Matrix") and Diane Lane ("Hollywoodland") will reprise their roles from "Man of Steel." Ben Affleck ("Argo") will join the cast as Batman.
David Goyer is currently writing the script. However, plot details have not been revealed. "Batman vs. Superman" is expected to begin principal photography in February. Warner Bros. will release the film in 2015.
