The third quarter of 2013 saw 47.6 million tablets shipped worldwide, and a big reason goes to Samsung and Apple Inc.
According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), Apple saw a decline in their tablet market share during the third quarter by 10.6 percentage points.

The IDC noted Apple finished the third quarter of 2013 with 14.1 million units shipped, or 29.6 percent of the tablet market share. Although Apple maintained first place, it is a drop of the 40.2 percentage points the Cupertino-based organization achieved based on IDC's statistics.
Samsung encountered a year-to-year increase of 123 percentage points as the South Korean-based organization garnered 20.4 percent of the tablet market share by the end of the third quarter this year. In comparison to the same quarter in 2012, Samsung accounted for 12.4 percent of the market share. In terms of units shipped, IDC noted Samsung shipped 9.7 million tablets, which is up from the 4.3 million units during the third quarter of 2012.
Asus managed to secure third place with 3.5 million units shipped during the third quarter this year, which also represented 7.4 percent of the tablet market share.
Lenovo shipped 2.3 million units during the quarter, which accounted for 4.8 percentage points in the tablet market share. To round up the top five,
Acer accounted for 2.5 percentage points in the tablet market share as the company shipped 1.2 million units.
