The 47th Annual Country Music Awards will honor the best names in country for stellar music, powerful singing and memorable music videos.
Six artists are up for the Music Video of the Year award, and the videos range from sorrowful depictions of broken homes to rollicking redneck parties.
The nominees are:
1. "Blown Away" by Carrie Underwood, directed by Randee St. Nicholas- The dark, stormy video reflects the song about a girl whose mother died and is left with no one but her alcoholic father.
2. "Boys 'Round Here" by Blake Shelton feat. Pistol Annies, directed by Trey Fanjoy- The raucous, redneck video depicts a down-home party in a barn, complete with roaming cows and pigs, as Blake Shelton extols the virtues of trucks, beer and girls.
3. "Downtown" by Lady Antebellum, directed by Peter Zavadil. Another upbeat video, only this time about a good country girl wanting to go downtown and have some wild fun.
4. "Highway Don't Care" by Tim McGraw, with Taylor Swift and Keith Urban, directed by Shane Drake. A classic melancholy country tune about a complicated relationship. The video shows a woman driving down the highway, crying about her lost love.
5. "Mama's Broken Heart" by Miranda Lambert, directed by Trey Fanjoy. Miranda Lambert plays a perfect Southern belle who isn't so together behind closed doors--and doesn't want to be.
6. "Tornado" by Little Big Town, directed by Shane Drake. The ominous video for the country-rock tune shows the band walking through a small town to get to a man who has it coming to him.
See who wins at the CMA Awards, which airs Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 8/7c on ABC. Country stars Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will host the show for the sixth consecutive year.
