Her road to Miss Universe began when she won Miss Belgium 2013 at the grand finale as a representative from Liege. The pageant was held at the Casino Van Knokkein in Knokke-Heist on Jan. 6.
Belgium has never won a Miss Universe pageant. The closest the country has come is fourth runner-up in 1981 with Dominque Van Eeckhoudt. However, Belgium did win Miss Congeniality in 1952, Miss Photogenic in 1972, and Most Beautiful Hair in 1994. Belgium has participated every single year since 1996. The country first participated in 1952.
The Miss Universe beauty pageant will be held at Crocus City Hall in Moscow Russia on Nov. 9, 2013. The current title holder is Olivia Culpo, who will place the crown on the head of her successor.
